JFK Is Changing Where Lyfts and Ubers Can Pick Up Passengers This Summer — What to Know
2 min readJun 27, 2024
Travelers arriving at New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK) this summer may face changes in how they catch their Uber or Lyft, particularly those arriving at Terminal 4, which services Delta, JetBlue, and several other airlines.
New Pickup Protocol:
- Temporary Change: Due to anticipated record passenger numbers and ongoing major construction, JFK is moving the ride-share pickup area for Terminal 4 to an off-site location.
- Shuttle Bus Requirement: During peak times (12:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. EST), arriving passengers using Uber or Lyft will need to exit the airport, board a rideshare shuttle, and then meet their driver at a designated remote lot.
- Signage: The airport will have signs indicating different pickup areas with codes, such as “K2” for Uber and “M1” for Lyft.
Peak Time and Shuttle Frequency:
- Peak Hours: 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. EST.
- Shuttle Frequency: Every 1–2 minutes.
Other Transportation Services:
- Departing Passengers: Those departing from Terminal 4 will still be dropped off directly in front of the terminal.
